Laura Stewart


Laura is a Principal and consulting actuary with over 18 years of experience with traditional and cash balance defined benefit plans among both public and private sector organizations. She works with a broad array of sponsor plans including defined benefit, defined contribution, and nonqualified plans. In addition to actuarial valuation work, she works closely with clients on plan design, de-risking, and nondiscrimination testing issues. Laura has assisted clients with lump sum windows, annuity purchases, and plan terminations. In addition to extensive private plan experience, Laura has participated in the total redesign of a government entity’s pension plan, from financial modeling of proposed strategic plan design changes through the education of participants regarding the impact of the change on their future retirement. She has also helped public sector defined benefit plan sponsors understand and manage their transition to GASB 67 and 68, along with the development of an independent funding policy. Laura has been a speaker at the Enrolled Actuaries Meeting.

Laura is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), an Enrolled Actuary (EA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She received her BS from Lambuth University.
